The G-Sensor (gravity sensor) in a dash cam is a crucial feature that enhances its functionality, especially in the event of a collision or sudden impact.
1. Collision Detection: The G-Sensor detects sudden changes in motion, such as sharp braking, acceleration, or impacts (e.g., accidents or bumps).
2. Automatic Locking: When a collision or sudden movement is detected, the dash cam automatically locks the current video footage and saves it to a separate, protected folder.
3. Prevents Overwriting: In normal operation, dash cams use loop recording, where older footage is overwritten by new footage when the storage is full. However, the G-Sensor ensures that critical footage from an incident is preserved and not overwritten.
Every 1/3/5 min loop recording, the oldest videos will be overwritten when the SD card is full.
